Stay Classy, Chicago November 16, 2014 Photos By: Shannon Steger In the words of the late Coco Chanel; “A woman should be two things; classy and fabulous.” Women have been using this quote for years -some might even say it’s a tad overused – but just using the quote for an Instagram caption doesn’t make you classy. Class is something that you have work into your every day life! Being classy doesn’t mean having a british accent or a closet full of Chanel (even thought both would be pretty awesome) it’s all about how you carry yourself. Ladies, if you respect yourselves, others will follow suit – it’s as simple as that! That’s the thing I love about fashion, one person wears something and then you see it walking down the runway next season – it’s all about following one another. Take this skirt for example. Dior was the first to re-introduce the full skirt after World War II. At the time, it was dubbed “unthinkable” to use all that precious fabric for one skirt when a jersey dress like the ones Chanel had created used less than half the material! Dior’s idea may have been taboo in the 40’s but once the 50’s rolled around thats all anyone wore! Fast forward, 60 years and look what’s back! The full, mid-length skirt! This just goes to prove that fashion not only operates in cycles, but that classic pieces always find a way back into our closets. These are the pieces that women need to invest money in, not the fashion forward, trendy piece that will be seen on the clearance rack in two weeks. Classic pieces will keep you looking pulled together and save a lot of money down the road! You stay classy Chicago 😉 RELATED POSTSInterview With: Janet MandellBlooper ReelSummer Don’t Go!
