How To: Buying Holiday Gifts December 9, 2014 The holidays are my favorite time of the year, but they can also be stressful. Buying gifts for the whole family isn’t always easy. If you’re anything like me, I like to make sure that I get each person the perfect gift – this usually results in my gifts being anywhere from a couple days, to a month late – but sometimes it’s hard to know what exactly to get. Buying for certain people in my family has always been a simple task, but when it comes to the people I don’t know as well, I’m stuck! Same goes for any women with men in their lives! Guys are the worst! They hardly ever tell you exactly what they want! Here are some tips for making holiday shopping fun, easy, and enjoyable again! SHOPPING FOR MOM: 1.) Treat her to something she wouldn’t do for herself: HELLLOOO spa day! Mom’s are the hardest working people on the planet, so my go-to for my mom is always something that can help her take time for herself, and relax a bit! 2.) Keep it family orientated: It doesn’t matter if you’re 5 years old, or 50 years old, moms will always love gifts that come from the heart. Whether that’s a family picture, something homemade, or something that involves the whole family doing something together, chances are she will love it! 3.) If it sparkles, get it: I don’t really think this ones needs to be explained but just in case you still need a clue ( Jewelry). SHOPPING FOR HIM (DAD, BOYFRIEND, ETC): 1.) Splurge on something he normally wouldn’t: Buy your guy something that he usually cheaps out on, like a designer weekender bag, a watch, or a great shaving kit! 2.) Be a good sport: Men love sports – most men that is- so a pair of tickets to a game of his favorite team is always good idea! 3.) Pay attention: Take note of what he likes. Does he keep talking about a movie he recently saw? Did he bookmark an advertisement in GQ or Men’s Health? If you pick up on these little details he will be blown away by your thoughtfulness! SHOPPING FOR SOMONE YOU DON’T KNOW WELL (A.K.A.- OFFICE PARTY SECRET SANTA): 1.) Don’t spend a lot: This has to be my favorite rule. I don’t like the idea of an office secret santa anyway. If I like that person enough I will willingly buy them something, I don’t need to draw their name out of a hat! Aside from that, if you keep yourself on a budget, if they hate the gift, you won’t feel so bad. 2.) Tap into your inner foodie: Everyone loves food, why not get them something delicious that they can enjoy?! The best part? You could just make some cookies and call it a day! 3.) Think outside the candle: I know a lot of people who LOVE scented candles (my best friend being one of them) but that doesn’t mean that everyone does. 4.) Looks do matter: Those cookies that you baked (See #2)? They will look so much more elegant wrapped in gorgeous gift bags! No matter how inexpensive, or small the gift may be, if it’s wrapped nicely they will enjoy it that much more! My cousin is the best at this! Every gift that I have ever gotten from her has been amazingly wrapped, still to this day I am amazed! RELATED POSTSFall FloralsLeather LovingBut First, Let Me Take a Scarfie..
