Coconut Oil: The Super Ingredient April 24, 2014 Post By: Elissa Bulgatz Within the last year, coconut oil has been name dropped as the latest super-good-for-you miracle product. It’s the go-to beauty product to use as a nourishing face cream, repairing leave-in conditioner, or beachy-scented body cream. The best part about it is that it’s actually beneficial in raising metabolism and boosting immunity too! How come no one introduced me to this years ago?? Is there anything coconut oil cannot do? The reason why coconut oil is better than the average face moisturizer, hair serum, and body lotion, is because, commercial moisturizers contain a lot water. This makes you feel as if your skin is being moisturized, when in reality, your skin is just going back to being dry again once the water dries. In contrast, coconut oil provides deep and real moisture and helps remove excessive dead cells on the your skin’s surface. It’s also great for shine and to use as a natural moisturizer for your hair. The vitamin E helps rebuild protein in your hair that is lost through styling, and when applied daily, it promotes hair growth! Tip: Rub a dime-sized amount of coconut oil on your hair’s dry ends to hydrate, and tame frizzy flyaways. On your face, apply as you would your normal moisturizer. Although I noticed having a greasier complexion the first couple of times, it’s great at absorbing quickly into the skin. As if this product could’t get any better, I’ve also learned that a little goes a long way..a spoonful is enough to hydrate your whole body! Buying Tip: Always select 100% pure, virgin coconut oil. Other Uses for Coconut Oil: Cooking and baking As coffee creamer As eye makeup remover When rubbed onto lips, it acts as a natural chap stick As whitening tooth paste. Either by itself or with baking soda As cuticle oil to help nails grow RELATED POSTSFinding a LifeNordstrom Sale PicksMoving Sucks!
